I would spend some of the money on my family, probably buy a bigger house somewhere up in the north of Scotland, and go on some amazing holidays to snowy places (my favourite). With some of the rest, I’d like to invest in setting up my own trust that supports scientists to make new discoveries in areas that don’t get a lot of science funding.
An interesting question… I go with Neil in that I’d probably spend some on my family. The balance I might invest in a fund in such a way that it might support my own research group and that of others in UK universities working in astrochemistry. Problem is that kind of fund needs a lot of money to have any impact and I don’t think winning the UK lottery would be enough!
This is a great question!!! I would definitely spend some money on my family, holiday somewhere. But something I said I would always do, is to become part of a Private Public Partnership with the University and donate money to one of their projects. I don’t need all the money but someone else might be able to benefit from it 🙂 Sounds strange as well but I would still come to work…I know I am not right eh!!!
