I would say 10. Each day there is something new to learn. I have worked on so many drug targets and diseases and there is always something new to learn and something new discovered. With my job the problem solving bit it what keeps you going as you can always make something better but how?!
I think you’d get the same answer from a lot of scientists @tasha – especially research scientists, who (on the whole) love their job. For me definitely 10/10 too – making brand new molecules that no one has ever made before and discovering new things with them – it definitely makes the job exciting.

Neil’s right… it’s a 10 from me! There’s not many jobs with the variety and potential to impact of society that being a scientist has.
